Fix wing craft which *attempt* to use convective heat (thermals) or upward wind (slope soaring) generated from the ground color and/or shape as there primary energy source for locomotion.  A secondary source is used to launch the craft in its search for primary energy sources.  The launch mechanisms can be (but not exclusively), bungie cord, plane tow, winch or (my favorite) electric propeller.
